Weingut Okonomierat Rebholz Riesling Trocken - 2023 (750ml)
Made from organically farmed, estate owned vineyards. Grown on mottled sandstone. All of the wines from this winery are made the same way, 24 hours of skins contact after destemming, fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aged on its own lees for about 6 months prior to bottling.Â
This Riesling shows a ripe, mineral aroma of citrus fruits, apricots and peaches. Typical of the mottled sandstone soil is the straightness and fine minerality. Very fresh and lively with a fine acid structure, a perfect matching to fish and light starters.
92 points Robert Parker
From vines predominantly in Siebeldingen but also Hainfeld and exclusively from colored sandstone and no calcareous soils, the 2023 Riesling trocken opens with a very clear, precise and flinty, pure but also aromatic bouquet with bright, elegant fruit aromas intermingled with herbal and stony as well as sur lie notes. Aged on the lees until early April of the following year, this is an elegant, round, lush and saline Riesling from vines averaging 25 years of age. The finish is crystalline and saline and provided with salivating grip. This is a gorgeous ambassador for the great 2023 vintage at Rebholz. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at the domaine in January 2025. - Stephan Reinhardt
