Liquore delle Sirene Vinoa Amaro āAmarulivoā (700ml)
Importer's Notes
Primary Botanicals: olive tree leaves, lemon verbena, iris, pine, absinthe, yarrow, oregano, laurel, rosemary, chiretta flower, mugwort
Botanical Source: All except the chiretta and mugwort are grown onĀ the farm at the Sirene House.
The Sirene products are a group of naturally made, traditional, Italian spirits. Elisa Carta is the force behind the brand, and her delicate yet precise liqueurs, bitters and aperitif wines reflect her as much as theyĀ do any prevailing category definitions. She reworks old family recipes using both local botanicals and thoseĀ traditionally sourced from Asia. Elisa grew up foraging and growing herbs with her grandmother, an amateurĀ botanist, and the recipes are close to her heart. She named her products āSirene' after the Baia delle SireneĀ (Bay of the Sirens) on Lake Garda which is also one of her chief botanical sources. No chemicals or artificialĀ coloring are ever used in Elisaās products and most are vegan.
For the Amarulivo (a combination of the words āamaroā and āulivoā or olive), Elisa was inspired by the oliveĀ trees that grow prolifically around Lake Garda and the leaves serve as the primary bittering agent. The baseĀ wine is the local Trebbiano di Lugano (genetically identical to Verdicchio) and adds brightness and freshnessĀ that make this traditional digestivo attractive as an aperitivo as well. Notes of tangerine, peach tea, cardamomĀ pods and lemon balm round out the palate.Ā
