Made from very old vines planted in limestone and clay soils. The wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks, and aged in those same tanks for 2 years prior to bottling. This wine saw no oak in its aging. This grape is known for cherry fruit aromas backed by a warm, spicy element. Perfect for southern Italian dishes with chili flakes!

The 2021 Cirò Rosso Riserva Duca Sanfelice emerges from the glass with a whiff of sour cherries, crushed cranberries, worn leather and sage. This is soothing, round, and silky in texture. Ripe red berry fruits slowly saturate, and a collection of edgy tannins mounts toward the close. The 2021 tapers off structured with a resonance of black raspberry. - Eric Guido February 2025
