The Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 32 Wheated Bourbon Whiskey is a distinctive expression within the Jefferson's Ocean series, known for its unique aging process and wheated mashbill. 

 

This bourbon undergoes a unique maturation journey. After aging for at least four years on land, the barrels are placed aboard ships, where they travel the globe. The constant motion, varying temperature, and exposure to sea air during the voyage are believed to influence the whiskey's flavor profile, imparting characteristics not found in traditional aging methods. 

Unlike traditional rye-based bourbons, this expression utilizes wheat as its secondary grain. Wheat being a softer grain than rye, allows the flavors developed during the ocean voyage to be more pronounced, as it doesn't introduce spiciness that rye imparts. 

 

TASTING NOTES:

Aroma: Rich, dark color with fragrances of caramel and butterscotch.

Palate: Sea-salt caramel, vanilla, and brown sugar on the palate give way to a medium finish with notes of menthol and caramel.
