For 8,000 years women have made wine in Georgia, but often behind the scenes. By both honoring the legendary Georgian women on our labels and by donating a percentage of our sales to organizations that support and invest in Georgian women winemakers we are commitment to enable a new generation of women to be the face of Georgian wine.

Our Rkatisteli label honors Lela, one of Georgia's legendary woman warriors. In 1659, Lela, the daughter of a famous warrior, stepped forward to join the effort to liberate Georgia from foreign warlords, but was refused because she was a woman.

One warrior, Kviria, knew that the effort could not succeed without Lela's help, and devised a plan to strike by stealth. Lela perished in the fray, but not before opening the gates and leading the way for a Georgian victory.
