Donnachadh Estate Pinot Noir - 2021 (750ml)
Our 2021 Estate Pinot Noir comes all from our organically farmed hillside blocks. This wine is a blend of Swan, Pommard, Calera, 115 and 667 clones. Delicate perfume and fruit aromas of pomegranate, blood orange and red cherries, wrapped in layers of savory herbs — sage and thyme —along with black tea on the nose. Concentrated, but precise and delicate in the mouth, with focussed nuanced fruit and a savory finish.  This is a wine that’s built for the long haul. If you drink it young, be sure to give it a decant or at least try to open it a couple of hours ahead of serving. The wine is quite reserved at the moment, but will gradually open up in the glass, so go slow and enjoy watching as it reveals itself over time. Stored properly, it should improve for many years to come and greatly reward patience.
The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate is a delicate, nuanced wine that captures the nervous style of the year nicely. Readers should plan on cellaring this for a year or more. Bright red-toned fruit, orange peel, white pepper, chalk and blood orange all run through this tense, beautifully sculpted Pinot Noir. This is very nicely done, but it needs time. - By Antonio Galloni on July 2023
