Concha y Toro Terrunyo Carmenere Blopck 27 - 2018 (750ml)

Concha y Toro Terrunyo Carmenere Blopck 27 - 2018 (750ml)

94 points Patricio Tapia

Peumo’s clay-rich soils retain water and allow the ever-thirsty carménère to drink it up without problems. But the Central Valley sun also allows this late-ripening variety to ripen easily. Ideal conditions for making great carménères like this one, a red with no fear of the variety’s herbal notes, those bell pepper tones that are in its genes. The palate is ripe and creamy, and the red fruits take over the palate in what ends up being a juicy wine with very good nerve. For the cellar—this wine will only improve in the bottle.

91 points Wine Enthusiast

One of Chile's most consistently excellent Carmenères is playing at its normal high level, with a glistening dark-purple color and spicy, lightly herbal berry aromas that are purely of the grape variety. Tartaric burn roughens the palate prior to flavors of tart plum, wild berry and pepper. Slight heat and burn are noted on the finish; drink through 2028. — Michael Schachner

91 points Wine Spectator

Big, with savory richness to the concentrated dark plum, dried cherry and raspberry tart flavors. Accents of forest floor are powerful and pure-tasting. Finishes with light smoky notes and hints of dried green herbs. Drink now through 2024. 11,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported. Kim Marcus
