Compass Box Glasgow Blend (750ml)
Blender's Notes:
An homage to the historical tastes of Glaswegian whisky drinkers, this is led by rich, smoky and spicy notes, with a mouthcoating Sherry wine sweetness.
Glasgow Blend is made with a very high proportion of Highland and Islay single malts (about 65%), combined with Lowland grain. It is matured in a combination of Sherry-seasoned butts, American Oak barrels and hogsheads, and custom French Oak casks.
Full, bold and smoky on the palate, Glasgow Blend unites the rich spice and fruitcake-like notes of Sherry cask ageing with the maritime punch of Islay malt whisky.
93 points Wine Enthusiast
Peat smoke leads the nose, with an undercurrent of vanilla. The robust, moderately smoky palate includes almond, shortbread and salted dark chocolate tones, exiting with espresso and cayenne pepper. Made with a blend of single malt and single grain whiskies. — Kara NewmanÂ
93 points Whiskey AdvocateÂ
Honey, vanilla, poached pears in cream, driftwood bonfires, and a sprinkle of wood spices comprise a clean, focused, and well-balanced nose. A golden and silky palate of sweet honey, vanilla, white chocolate, and lemon zest, with plenty of body. Enter caramel; the smoke cuts to the front, outstripping aromatic spices, orchard fruit, and baked citrus flavors. Compelling and moreish: drink whenever it’s raining in Glasgow and you can’t go wrong. - September 2020
